THE CONCEPT

Today's retailer is dealing with a market savvy customer who is looking for beautiful well made clothes. But how often does where the clothes are made arise? According to Conscientious Innovation's SHIFT Report, the desire to purchase locally is a trend to watch.
"Consumers feel there is a closer personal connection with 'local'. When it is in their backyard, people feel they know the brand, its part of their community, and that is appealing,"(Concientious Innovation Report, 2006)
Fashion High is embracing the steadily growing trend towards shopping locally by initiating a "Dress Local" sticker campaign. This is a unique opportunity to help consumers become aware of retailers selling larger quantities of local and Canadian design as well as clothes made from sustainable and organic materials. Watch for the Fashion High Dress Local sticker in the windows of stores across BC.

THE DRESS LOCAL REPORT CARD

Participating stores have to answer positively to three of the following questions to qualify for the Dress Local Campaign.
  1. Is your business locally owned?
  2. Does your business sell locally designed clothing?
  3. Where is the local content manufactured (B.C., Canada, China, etc.)?
  4. Are at least 50% of your store's products designed locally?
  5. Are at least 50% of your store's products made in Canada?
  6. Are the products created from sustainable or organic fabrics?
